Welcome to my home page.
I am an artist who teaches.
I am an Oregonian native from the mountainous Rogue River Valley, where I have enjoyed an eclectic and colorful passage toward my current place in the artistic community. From my earlier explorations in music, which took me on tour to six European countries and studies in the arts, plus, a varied work experience, I have worked to establish myself as a voice among regional artists, as one who studies the integrated landscape with figures as symbolic gestures.
I was born in Port Angeles, Washington in 1947. In 1950, Mom drove us three kids and her self to Ashland Oregon where we soon settled in the mountains on Yank Gulch road. Later, we moved to a farm in rural Talent that greatly tempered my love for landscape. I graduated from Phoenix High School in 1965 and worked in construction until I joined the Air Force in 1967 and then was honorably discharged in 1971. After the service I earned a certificate from Oregon College of Art in 1978 where I studied commercial art and illustration. I received two undergraduate degrees from Southern Oregon University in 1981 and my Masters degree from the University of Oregon in 1988. I have been teaching for over 4 decades in a wide range of artistic areas and have taught classes through Summer Youth Programs at Southern Oregon University, and am currently teaching winter classes in the Ashland School District, and private classes at my studio.
