ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
An Oregonian native from the mountainous Rogue River Valley, Craig Honeycutt has enjoyed an eclectic and colorful passage toward his current place in the artistic community. From earlier explorations in music, which took him on tour to six European countries and studies in the arts, plus, a varied work experience, Honeycutt has is establishing himself as a significant voice among regional artists, particularly in his treatment of landscape and integrated figures.
He was born in Port Angeles, Washington in 1947. In 1950, his mother drove the family of three kids and her self to Ashland Oregon. Later, they moved to a farm in rural Talent that greatly tempered his love for landscape. He graduated school at Phoenix High in 1965 and worked in construction until he joined the Air Force in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He earned a certificate from Oregon College of Art in 1978 where he studied commercial art and illustration. He received his undergraduate degrees from Southern Oregon University in 1981 and, his Masters degree from the University of Oregon in 1988. He has been teaching for over 4 decades in a wide range of artistic areas and is currently engaged in instructional Summer Youth Programs at Southern Oregon University, winter classes in the Ashland School District, and private classes at his studio.
